On September 12th 2009 the heavyweights Discover Records, MPFS and Prehab join forces to deliver a night to rival all that have come before it.

John Askew will take the reins and be leading the way in the main room alongside other leaders of the industry such as Activa and Ben Gold. The Discover label has consistently released chart topping hits that have received world-wide recognition and John Askew plays for the biggest names week in week out such as Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Slinky, The Gallery as well as massive international gigs.

John has also found the time to release two phenomenal albums and is currently producing a third, had releases on every reputable label and also appeared on the legendary Radio 1’s essential mix.

He’s in good company with Activa who is currently cementing his place as one of the most successful producers on the scene today. Each release he brings out seems to be making waves among his peers and clubbers alike which led to one of the world’s most famous DJ’s, Paul Van Dyk, seeking his skills to remix the all time classic anthem “For an Angel”.

With others like Ben Gold, a producer that is being championed by Armin Van Buuren’s State of Trance radio show, Sly One and Jurrane who have been catapulting to success after being signed to Discover records and not forgetting David Murtagh who has been instrumental in Prehab’s success, this room is sure to be raising the rafters all night long!

Room Two, hosted by Prehab, is certainly going to try and give this big boys a run for their money though. Having grown from a small night to a brand that was being chased by the Gallery to host a room for regular nights, Prehab has proven itself when it comes to producing top quality events. Focussing on bringing the new shoots through and growing them into massive names they continue to keep their finger on the pulse win over the London masses. Rob Mooney, Dave Irvine and Gary Optim lead the pack in delivering yet another smasher!

Cerebral will be gracing the dance floor of room three bringing their own unique flavour of breaks and dubstep to this already awesome night. Headlining and fresh from BLOC 2009 and Glade Festival is iTAL tEK, a DJ and producer that is carving a niche for himself with his own brand of dark atmospheric sounds.

Alongside him you’ll find a live PA from Phase 2 which is sure to blow your socks off as it does with crowds at The Cross, Ministry of Sound and The Gallery, a truly gargantuan display of cutting edge electronica.

Supported by the likes of MC Tayong, Oxynucid, Ursa, Hefty and Tate Simister this room is set to be pumping from start to finish!

Be there or be kicking yourself in the shins for missing it!!

Store N Forward

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

The in Hamburg / Germany located trance-duo STORE N FORWARD was founded by Thomas Boldt and Christian Steinweg in 2001.

Because of their fascination in the music mixed with a proper volition, it was merely a matter of time until they produced their own music with their own facilities. As the years have gone by, not only has their studio developed, but also the quality and sound of their music. In early 2004 Store N Forward tried their luck in a remix contest of the new single “Oceanlab – Satellite”. In the final judging they received third place and there first release was born. Because of forgetting to mention there actual name, ABOVE & BEYOND’s Tony, Jono & Paavo unknowingly gave them their second synonym with this “Boldt & Steinweg” Remix. During the course of the rest of the year 2004, their second remix and their first single “BLIND STRAIGHT” were released also. Then, in the blink of an eye, both tracks became recognized as quality work by many producers and DJs throughout the EDM scene.

Germany’s most distinguished electronic music magazine Raveline writes:“If only such newcomers like Store N Forward would spring up like mushrooms, our trance-scene would thrive and prosper like nobody could imagine!”

Interests in Music
Since a very young age, Fots has been interested in music of many genres. He begun formal piano lessons at 14 years of age and continued for around five years. During this time, he sat several formal music exams with ANZCA and performed at live events.

Developing an Interest in Trance Music
One of the big influences on his musical taste while learning piano was a radio show known as Club Cow. This aired weekly and played the newest and greatest trance tunes. After listening to it extensively, Fots decided to get into music production.

Some of the artists influencing Fots at this time were Paul van Dyk, BT, Matt Darey and Ferry Corsten.

Production over the Years
For the last few years, Fots has been producing trance basing it on concepts from classical music. With a new generation of trance music, it was decided to start something new and fresh. Something that concentrated on the raw aspects of trance, like hard bass lines and hard beats.

Sonic Element was started in August 2007 and will be the name used for all future productions put together by Fots. The music begins with the first Sonic Element track titled “Away Without You”.

The Sonic Element Studio
A revamped studio has been brought to life in 2008 and upgraded in 2009 which will provide a more comfortable and accurate monitoring haven for production.

Dennis Sheperd

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Introduction: There are very few artists that can genuinely say that they’re in the running to stage the next big EDM breakout. After a 36 month production whirlwind, which has thrust him squarely into the dance spotlight, Dennis Sheperd is very much one of them. The 23 year old from Essen in Germany has spent that short period of time delivering some of the freshest, most creative music dance-land has heard in years. In doing so he’s recorded and remixed for some of the scene’s most forward-thinking & eclectic labels, racking up formidable club-anthems along the way!

Productions 2007: Dennis started his studio career in 2004, but rather than rushing to release simply ‘ok’ compositions, he took his time to learn the craft before sending out his first production. In the first half of 2007 ‘Pressure’ was signed and released by MPFS Records and pulled in visibly cross-genre support from a wide range of DJs. Charged highly by its playlist success Dennis set to work on the follow up. The resulting track, ‘A Tribute To Life’, became Sheperd’s essential breakthrough record. The track created instantaneous buzz and left a lasting impression on the floors of Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk and Markus Schulz. It also brought him onto the radar of Kyau & Albert, who commented that “Dennis is Germany’s most promising newcomer in Progressive Trance right now!”

Productions 2008: Now in high gear and reaching more ears exponentially with every release, it became apparent to both observers and the fast-expanding fan-base that Dennis’ take on trance was both a unique and in-demand. Filtering the purer edges of progressive house and trance in a fashion not done before, he cross-pollinated them with minimal, electro and deeper house elements. This was no better demonstrated than the wider ranging remit of labels now aiming to release his records. ‘Infinity’ came out through Baroque’s devoutly progressive sub-label, Method in April of 2008. This was followed by his High Contrast debut ‘Prime Of Life’ and its follow-up ‘Not Too Late’ (which featured Cold Blue on co-production).

Late 2008 brought with it a new artist/label relationship with Kyau & Albert’s label Euphonic. With ‘Run Away’ came another flood of new DJ support, prompting Gareth Emery to comment: “Dennis has made some great records, particularly ‘Run Away’, which has been rocking my sets for over six months. He’s definitely a hot name to watch for the future”.

Into 2009: Remixed by Ronski Speed, ‘Black Sun’ quickly became Euphonic’s ‘Run Away’ follow-up. Its release proved to be Dennis’ most successful radio & club record to date. Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond both spun it several times on ASOT & TATW, with it taking both the ‘Track of the Week’ and ‘Web Vote Winner’ titles on the latter show. It also picked up heavyweight support from Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery and Kyau & Albert. Dennis is about to expand his label remit once again with a release on Armada (in collaboration with Australia’s No.1 DJ, tyDi).

Off the back of some hotly-received guest mixes (on shows including Tiësto’s Club Life & Solarstone’s Solaris International), Dennis has also just stepped out from behind the mixing desk and is about to deliver his own productions, this time from behind the decks!
